Many members of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Niger State including the
coordinator of the party’s governorship
candidate, Alhaji Umar Nasko in Shiroro
local government of the state, Alhaji Akilu
Ishaku Kuta have defected to the All
Progressives Congress (APC).
They defected on Tuesday during the
campaign tour of the APC governorship
candidate, Alhaji Abu Sani Bello.
Kuta a former vice chairman of Shiroro local
government on the platform of PDP
announced that he was defecting to APC
with 1,500 of his supporters who were
hitherto in PDP.
He said the reason for dumping PDP was
because of the neglect of the rural areas
including Shiroro local government area.
Niger State deputy governor and leader of
APC in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto
who received the defectors urged the people
to vote for all the candidates of APC in the
forthcoming general election.
According to Ibeto, APC will bring about true
development for the people hence any vote
for APC is a wise decision to ensure
development.
Ibeto admonished the youths to avoid
violence during and after the election,
urging them to be peaceful even if they are
deliberately provoked.
While also urging them not to be influenced
to vote by financial gains he advised the
youths to resist the temptation of selling
their permanent Voters Cards PVCs.
In his declaration Abu Sani Bello promised
to develop the state and therefore sought for
the people’s votes to mitigate poverty in the
state and clean the state of currupt
practices .
