Emeka Ike Still At War With Landlord

Emeka Ike has had his fair share of controversies but the latest is the story concerning the closure of his school, St. Nicholas College, Magodo, Lagos, over alleged unpaid rent.

Last Tuesday,  the school under the guise of enrolling a student but a member of staff, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the school was shut down.

He said that there was a court order that sealed the school and no one was allowed inside. According to the source, the school had been shut for about two weeks over an unsettled issue between the landlord and Ike. He, however, added that the case was already in court.

When asked about the students and if they were aware of the development, he said he was not sure but he doubted if the students and their parents knew what was happening before it became a court case.

Another source, who worked around the vicinity and identified himself as Shina, claimed he was there when a task force team came to the school and seized Ike’s property.

“The landlord is actually an old man so his children advised him not to worry himself as they would take up the matter. They called on task force agents and they carried all Emeka Ike’s property, including his cars. He has not even come to check the place out. It was God that saved his Prado Jeep. That Prado is the only vehicle he has now. They packed everything, it is a big problem,” Shina said.

Meanwhile, when Saturday Beats called Ike on the telephone, the actor who was obviously vexed, claimed his school was back in operation.

“You can go back there and check. We are back. Everybody is working. We have got most of our students back. I am in possession of my property.”

Ike said the landlord and bloggers were trying to “spoil” his name, describing the court judgement as a “kangaroo judgement.”

“I am already contesting that judgement. We would need to find out how he got that judgement and what gave him the right to do what he did,” he added.

While insisting the issue wasn’t supposed to be a public knowledge, Ike claimed he had invested so much in the property and wasn’t ready to allow “somebody to rubbish” him just because of his celebrity status.

“The place was just a carcass when we leased it five years ago. It was terrible. We sweated and made it what it is today. Now, after seeing that the place has turned around, the man wants to come and reclaim it just like that.

“We were trying to settle amicably. We had gone for arbitration but before we knew what was happening, the man went and got a kangaroo judgement. I am not going to let the matter die like that. This is a sweat of my youth. I have invested so much in the property. Most of the students are even on scholarship. All my efforts can’t go for nothing,” the actor said.

Flavour was at the school during the week where he was received at the  assembly ground alongside his band members, management team and close associates to a rousing applause by a massive presence of students numbering about 4000 and the school authorities.

Controversial Pastor Takes Money To Check Name in Book Of Life

The controversial Kenyan pastor,  Bishop Thomas Wahome collects money to check if your name is in the ‘book of life’.

It is said that Wahome owns the Helicopter of Christ ministries and the Kenyan media describe the “Man of God” and his church as “just out of this world” as he is “known to craft very bizarre ways of conning his flocks”.
Two years ago the cleric was charging KSh 1,200 (N 2,300) to anyone who wanted to touch his garment referring to the woman who touched Jesus’ clothes in the book of Mark. He claimed that people who touched his clothes were immediately cured from any disease.
Fresh reports indicate that pastor Wahome can “Check whether your name is the book of life”.
He is believed to check it for KSh 1,500 (N2,900) and actually ask God whether you are among those people who will go to heaven.

My Wife Is Not My Type, Says Popular Actor

He made this comment while interviewed by Rolling Out magazine and asked to advise other men looking to settle down.
This is what he replied:

"While, I don’t consider myself a person that should write a book, or give advice on relationships, what I will share is my personal perspective. What helped me along the way was I had two personal friends of mine whose fiancés died. And I went through a personal struggle where my father got really sick, and I spent a week with him and it just dawned on me that we don’t have as much time as we think. And when you’re done playing games, and you find someone who has qualities that are much more practical as opposed to romanticized ideals, then you've got to hold on to them. People think that you’re supposed to marry your type … well, I didn’t marry my type. It’s much more practical, and based in a day-to-day existence. So when you have that, and you’re happy, and you love her, don’t waste time. Because time — and I’ve learned that at this point in my life — time is my most precious commodity. Nothing is more precious than time. Because when it runs out … that’s it."
It would be interesting to know how his wife reacted to this statements... Anyway, do you agree with the actor?

Voluntary Slavery: Lagos Youths Apply For N93 Per Hour Chinese Job!

N93 per hour work

Between 7am and 12pm of any week day, at least 60 youths, both male and female, besiege the entrance of Solpia Nigeria Limited, a company that manufactures artificial hair on Iju Road, Agege, Lagos.

The young men and women appear to be relentless because they are there everyday and remain at the gate of the Chinese company for hours before dispersing in twos and threes late in the evening.

One of the young men, Ayotunde Akinyo, who has become a regular “customer” among those who visit the company every morning, explained the reason why he had been parading the place with the hope of getting employed in the last six months.

“Sometimes, the Chinese owners employ 50 people at a go out of the crowd of job seekers standing outside. Sometimes, they take just five. Before now, I used to come here irregularly, but it seemed that they usually employed on those days that I did not come. That is why I have been coming here regularly for the past six months,” he said.

Akinyo said he was 27 years old and had a Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

When he was asked by our correspondent whether he was aware of how much he could be paid if he was lucky to get employed, he said he knew.

The young polytechnic graduate said he knew that he would be paid N15,000, which translates to about N93 per hour for eight hours in five days a week. A worker had earlier hinted that the salary of a fresher in the company used to be N20,000 until it was recently slashed to N15,000.

“What other choice have I got? I did not just graduate and decided to come here. I had searched for jobs and was tired before I decided to come here,” Akinyo explained.

Akinyo found no reason to be ashamed as he was aware that there were many other graduates like him in the crowd.

Chidinma Acquires New N10 million Range Rover

While the attention has been on other MTN ambassadors such as Praiz, KCEE and Iyanya buying expensive cars, Chidinma is also reaping the fruits of her labour.

The singer says she just got her petite self a Range Rover. The SUV is believed to have cost her about N10m.

‘I love this new ride… #biggerandbetter #hardworkpays #mysweat #notagift #hello2014 #glorytoGodnotman #moreworktobedone #Godisfaithful,‘ Ms Kedike wrote, hinting that her new toy isn’t a gift but bought from her hard earned money.

This makes it two SUVs the singer currently has.

Chidinma is currently planning her sophomore album release this 2014.

S-H-A-M-E-F-U-L!!!

It is disheartening that Akwaihedi community in Nnewi South

against the wearing of trousers by women in the year, 2014,
not even 1920s.
The irresponsible law which took immediate effect, had one
of its first casualties, a female members of the National
Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the community, Ms
Grace Uduak, who was almost stripped by some sex perverts
and backward-looking villagers.
It took the intervention of some youths to prevent things from
getting out of hand.
The dehumanized corps member, Grace Uduak, said she was
shocked when the ruler slammed her for wearing the NYSC
uniform and the attack by the villagers.
According to some Youths of the Village that spoke with
Hope For Nigeria, the community leaders did not allow
policemen into their village, as their Out-of-touch, monarch
said the traditional court would handle domestic issues.
Hope For Nigeria is appealing to the Igwe of Akwaihedi

president-general of the town union, to repel this obnoxious
law with immediate effect.

Nigerian Hollywood Actor, Hakeem Kae Kazim Laments Nollywood Script Standard And Black Actors Discrimination In Hollywood

Can you remember cornel ike Dubaku in 24hrs?

Actor reveals why he rejects some Nollywood scripts
Hollywood actor, Hakeem Kae Kazim, has revealed that he turned down several Nollywood scripts as such scripts did not match his standard.
In an interview with HipHopWorld, the British-Nigerian, who played George Rutaganda in the Academy Award-nominated movie, Hotel Rwanda, also disclosed how director, Obi Emelonye, wooed him over to Nollywood with the script of Last Flight To Abuja.
“I did the TV series called 24, up in Los Angeles, United States, then one Nigerian director I had met at some film festivals said to me, ‘Nobody knows you are Nigerian in Nigeria’.
“I was shocked and he said, ‘You have to come home and do something’. Then a year and a half later, he presented a script, Inale. It was my first experience coming back into Nigeria and working in Nollywood. And then he said will I come and do his movie; it was Last Flight To Abuja. Again, the reason why I did it was because he was the director and one that is trying to move the Nollywood film experience to a higher level so I wanted to help him do that and so I came back and did Last Flight To Abuja, which was an interesting filming experience,” Mr. Kae-Kazim said.

He also noted the discrimination of black actors in Hollywood.

“Yes, there is discrimination in one sort of sense but the major fact is that in Hollywood, whites are the majority there. They are doing their own work and are just telling their own stories from their perspective and most times they just have a person of colour they want to put in as they deem fit. And I think it’s up to us to be able to tell our own stories. The most important thing is for the African race both in Hollywood and Nollywood to put together their resources to provide infrastructure and to start a process of telling their own stories so that the stories come from them and by them,” he said.
Mr. Kae-Kazim described his experience with Nollywood superstars, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji, as good. He talked about how great it was for him to have come and experienced some of Nigerian talents and hopefully influence the talent and help raise everybody’s game.

REVEALED: Wande Coal And Olamide At War

Wande Coal and rap rave of the moment Olamide are  reportedly not on speaking terms. The brouhaha is believed to have started back in late 2012 when Olamide released his YBNL album.

On the track titled ‘Picture’, Olamide rapped about not letting his guard down when it comes to interacting with obsessed female fans.‘Oloso (prostitutes) thinking of how to ruin me, but I know what I’m doing/they want to Wande Coal me, they want to Davido me,’ he rapped. Both Wande Coal and Davido have been involved in controversies over n**e/half n**e photos purportedly leaked by women.

Wande Coal, we are told, was not impressed by Olamide’s reference to the incident.Months later, when Ice Prince was recording songs for his Fire of Zamani album, he called on Wande Coal, Yung L and Olamide to feature on a track called ‘Gimme dat’. Wande Coal had wrapped up his verse when he found out Olamide would also be featured on the song.

Sources say Wande wasn’t pleased with that and asked that he should not be featured on the same track with Olamide. Ice Prince, we are told, was forced to take Wande Coal’s verse off the song and replace it with a verse fromBurna Boy.

The song, produced by Chopstix, was released for digital download on April 24, 2013. Interestingly, a previous version of the song, which featured Wande Coal’s verse, leaked on the internet four months later, August 23, 2013.

You Need To Read This! Drama As Ogun APC Member, Tajudeen Diamonds Declares Presidential Ambition

he potential presidential aspirant presented a 19-point
agenda.
A mild drama occurred on Monday at a stakeholders
meeting of the Ogun All Progressives Congress, APC, when
a member of the audience announced his intention to
contest for the presidency in 2015 and sought for the
party’s support.
The meeting, which took place at the June 12 Cultural
Centre, Abeokuta, was presided over by the Ogun State
Governor, Ibikunle Amosun. In attendance were leaders of
the party as well as members across all the 20 local
government areas.
The presidential aspirant, Tajudeen Diamonds ( photo below), declared his
ambition during the question and answer session. The
moderator had asked participants who had questions to ask
to raise their hands. Mr. Diamonds did, and he was called
to speak.
Handed the microphone, Mr. Diamonds stated that he had
come all the way from Kano State to attend the
stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta and to seek for the
party’s support ahead of the 2015 elections.
“I am from Kano. I love APC. I love Amosun and I want to
say this publicly that I want to contest the presidential
election under the banner of APC, our party. How do I go
about this because I need your support?” he asked.
His frank declaration was greeted with laughter by the
baffled gathering. At this point, the Master of Ceremony,
perhaps presuming that all was not right with the potential
presidential aspirant, discreetly took the microphone from
Mr. Diamonds.
In an interview with PREMIUM TIMES after the event, Mr.
Diamonds rolled out his 19-point agenda which included 18
hours of power supply nationwide, the establishment of 36
Federal Universities of Agriculture, the creation of 300,000
jobs for each state, camera on every street across Nigeria,
more barracks, several National Film Institutes, N16,000
monthly salary for youth between the ages of 18 and 25 as
well as the construction of six refineries, among others.
Mr. Diamonds also made a case for a tenure of five years
for political office holders and stated that he would fix
minimum wage at N25,000.
He also disclosed that he had already printed over one
million posters, which would be distributed across Nigeria
in due course.

Crisis Looms In OAU As Students Vows Not To Follow Management Order

A crisis is in the offing at the Obafemi Awolowo Unversity, Ile-Ife, Osun State. At the centre of the looming crisis is  the planned Nigeria Universities Games.

The event scheduled to hold at the institution between February 12 and 22 has witnessed two postponements due to inadequate facilities, improper logistics and the five-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, among other factors .

Our correspondent, however, gathered on Monday that  the bone of contention is the provision of accommodation for the participants in the competition.

The OAU management, it was gathered, has reportedly directed students to vacate their hostels on or before February 7 to enable the NUGA participants to use the facility.

But the directive appears not to have gone down well with the students who have condemned the decision.

Some of the students, who spoke to our correspondent, said the directive would disrupt the peace of the university.

A student, who simply gave his name as Aiyekooto, said, “In the first instance, NUGA is meant for university students, not for only athletes or university management. So, where is the sense in alienating the host students who are expected to add glamour to this event?”

Also, students, who reside in the Angola Hall of the university, swore not to vacate the hostel because of the games. They said their tenancy in the hostel would end after their second semester examinations between April and May.

Part of their communiqué after the meeting read, “The gathering condemned in strong terms the plan by the school management to force students out of the halls of residence. Students paid for a session-long accommodation. So, it is irrational for a landlord to temporarily evacuate his tenants because he is expecting some guests.

“The University of Ilorin and Federal University of Technology hosted the West Afica University Games and NUGA at different times, without sending their students away. The university authorities made alternative arrangement for the visiting athletes who came from across West Africa. Why must OAU be different?

“The militarisation of the campus  is  greeted with rebuke from the students. Records have it that we have been responsible. Even during the struggle (for restoration of student  union), unlike other institutions, we did not burn buildings or harass others. So there is no reason for the management to militarise our campus. This is unconstitutional and unacceptable.”

Also, a group, known as the Education Right Campaign, in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole, and other top management officials, has called for caution on the issue.

The ERC said, “We condemn the idea that students will be forced out of residential halls during NUGA. For us, NUGA is a sporting event meant for students. But the preparation of the university to turn host students out during this game is portraying an opposing point of view.

“We also wish to call your attention to the risks involved in unprepared travels, especially if the deadly state of our roads is considered. The ERC opines that the decision to force students out of residential halls was considered out of the interest of the students and undemocratically reached.”

When contacted, the Chief Security Officer of the university, Mr. Paul Ogidi, said the management was not planning to ‘militarise’ the institution.

He said, “We have been meeting all stakeholders as we are expecting over 7, 000 athletes. As you know, it will attract national attention.  It will also attract national security apparatuses, including the riot policemen, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Man ‘O War, Red Cross and students’ volunteers.

“We are going to have a  large turn-out of participants and you know that the country is faced with insurgencies from militant groups. We cannot afford to allow any security breach. Terrorist groups may want to use the opportunity to strike because a large number of people will gather here for the sporting event.”

Meanwhile, the university authority has said the games will still hold in the institution as scheduled.

According to its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, so far an Olympic-sized swimming pool, eight-lane modern tartan track, sports halls, drainage systems, among other facilities, are ready for the event.

He said, “When we decided to build a new track for the school, we looked beyond the NUGA because we want something that would serve the school and the country long after the games. We are happy that we have this swimming pool and the modern tracks, which those who know have confirmed as the best you can get anywhere in the world.”

NURTW Boss, Seyi Rugged Stabbed To Death By Thugs In Lagos

A gang of thugs have stabbed the vice chairman of a branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to death.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, Seyi Olaleye, aka Seyi Rugged, was killed on Moore Street, off Apapa Road in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State.

Our correspondent was told that Olaleye, who was in his 30s, was the vice chairman, NURTW, Deji Ayewa, Costain branch.

It was learnt that he was killed during a clash with a group of thugs led by one Waheed aka Skippo.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Skippo and Seyi Rugged and their respective followers had been at loggerheads for some times.

It was learnt that the fresh crisis began after some of Skippo’s boys attacked Seyi Rugged’s boys during a carnival in the first week of January.

A member of the Neighbourhood Watch, who craved anonymity, said, “Seyi Rugged group controls Jones and Vaughan streets as well as Oto and Railway line.

“Skippo controls Brickfield, Olokodana, Ilogbo and Fagbaimu areas. On January 6, there was a carnival in Abule Nla and Skippo’s boys attacked and overpowered Seyi Rugged’s people and fled.

“In the same week, there was another attack on Seyi Rugged’s boys again and he felt it was time to retaliate.”

We learnt that elders in the community called Seyi Rugged for a meeting two weeks ago and advised him to make peace with Skippo.

The deceased, who was married with two sons, was said to have agreed and promised not to foment any trouble.

The deceased was said to have constantly complained that he and his boys were being marginalised by authorities of the Mainland Local Government who outsourced jobs to Skippo’s faction.

A resident, who introduced herself simply as Iya Dada, said, “Skippo was part of the Local Government’s security team and his faction usually enjoyed benefits from the government.”

It was learnt that penultimate Friday, after a caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress, a prominent member of the party gave out money to some of the thugs who had gathered to serenade them.

An eyewitness, Adebola Onafeko, said a fight soon broke out between Seyi Rugged’s faction and Skippo.

He said, “Around 6pm, Seyi Rugged led his boys to fight against Skippo and his boys. Seyi Rugged was hacked many times and his fingers were cut off.

“Skippo and his boys also sustained injuries. A few minutes later, Seyi Rugged, who was in a pool of blood, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

“We reported the matter to policemen at the Iponri Police Division, and policemen came to the hospital.”

Our correspondent learnt that the police arrested many youths in the area.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the deceased, a graduate of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, had been buried.

Residents urged the police to beef up security in the area in order to forestall any reprisal.

Corporal Aniyem Chiyem, Policeman Who Demanded Dollar Bribe placed On Trial, Faces Dismissal

The policeman, who was caught on video demanding dollars as bribe from a Nigerian-American and two other Nigerians for alleged traffic offences in Lagos, has been arrested and is now facing an orderly room trial.

The man, identified as Corporal Aniyem Chiyem, whose video was posted on YouTube was secretly filmed by one of the passengers in a three-minute, 45-second footage.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, on Monday in Abuja said that the hitherto unknown Chiyem with Force No. 374171, was attached to Isheri Division, Lagos State Police Command.

“His arrest was sequel to a matching order issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Umar  Manko, to ensure prompt arrest and investigation of the matter.

“Following his arrest, the suspect who is now in police custody, is undergoing orderly room trials and if found guilty, will face appropriate disciplinary actions,” the statement said.

In the footage, a passenger was heard explaining to the policeman that one of them was actually celebrating his birthday and that they were hurrying up to catch up with a friend.

The incident, according to the description given on YouTube, was said to have happened in the Egbeda area of Lagos.

“Arrange dollars. Give us dollars,” the policeman, who was holding an AK-47 rifle, demanded from one of the passengers.

The cop, who sat at the rear seat of the car, subsequently ordered the passenger back into the vehicle with a view to kick-starting the negotiation.

The Nigerian-American explained that he wasn’t carrying any dollars on him and that he was only on vacation in the country.

“I don’t have dollars, We only have naira,” the passenger who spoke with what can be described as an American accent, said.

One of the passengers, on noticing the policeman’s resolve to take bribe, offered him N700 which Chiyem rejected.

“This is N700. What is the value of N700? I need dollars. Let us go and change it (naira to dollars). Bring better thing. That one is not money,  I don tell you finish o,” he said.

Meanwhile, the IG has commended the unknown whistleblower in the case for his painstaking efforts in exposing what would have been a hidden crime.

He equally enjoined other members of the public to emulate “this noble and patriotic action which will certainly go a long way in checkmating crime in our society.”

the signing of Midfielder Atiku from the PDP on a season
long loan deal with an
option of a buy out clause at the end of the current season.
The 67 year old utility player who shall wear Jersey Number
10 moved to the APC as part of a deal which saw Attahiru
Bafarawa and Ibrahim Shekarau, both surplus to requirement
moved to the PDP. Atiku struggled to make an impact during
his first loan spell at the defunct ACN under Coach Asiwaju
Tinubu during the 2010/2011 season. However Coach
Tinubu
who has also taken up the job of gaffer at the APC has hailed
Atiku's signing as marvelous and described him as a
fantastic all round midfielder that will bring his spark and
creativity to the club.
This is wishing Turaki Atiku a fantastic spell at his new club.

Good one. Surely, APC FCnew signing Atiku would remain
squad player to be used as substitute player only rather dan
1st eleven player. Remember there are other young and
dimutive APC players for same midfield position Atiku is
recruited for. I am very sure Atiku will port APC FC to anoda
club at d end dis current 2014/2015 season for lack of playing
time. TIME WILL TELL.

Two Chinese Men Breaks Bottle On Nigerian Employees Head

Two Chinese nationals, Mike Jackson and
Tony Jackson, have been detained by the
State Criminal Investigation Department,
Eleweran, Ogun State, for allegedly
assaulting one of their employees at Jivan
Plastic Company.
The assaulted employee, Adeleke Owolabi,
a Mass Communications graduate from
Olabisi Onabanjo university was on his first
day at the job when he was reportedly
attacked by Mike over a minor mistake. He
was trying to defend himself when the other
Chinese national, Tony smashed a bottle on
his head.
Recounting his ordeal, Owolabi said, “I was
bringing out PVC materials out of a bag and
Mike said I was not handling the materials
properly. He kicked me and slapped me
repeatedly so I held unto his shirt to prevent
him from beating me further.
“However, his cousin, Tony, smashed a
bottle on my head and they beat me until I
fainted and woke up on the way to Makun
Police Division covered in blood.”
According to Owolabi, the police declined
arresting the Chinese men due to their
status as foreigners but after the story was
published yesterday, the police swung into
action. They went to the company in
Sagamu and whisked the suspects away.
Owolabi said, “Yes, the Chinese men have
been detained at the SCID and I am
satisfied with the action of the police so far.
I am happy that the media are helping to
ensure that the matter is not swept under
the carpet. I am not after money but I just
don’t want a situation whereby Nigerians
are treated badly by foreigners in their own
land.”
Confirming the arrest, the Ogun state Police
Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi
said, “the matter is at the SCID and we are
compiling the case files. We want to assure
members of the public that justice will
prevail.”

Full report Of University Of Ibadan Fire Outbreak

A COMPREHENSIVE REPORT:
TWO INJURED AT KUTI FIRE OUTBREAK.
The Kuti Hall buttery fire started around 6a.m and if not for
the timely intervention of the modern fire service of the
university, the whole buttery would have been razed down.
The Oyo state Fire service which later joined, first had
problem with their archaic generators! Some said they left the
ropes to start their pumps and were looking for one. Before
the men could start their pumps, the UI service with efforts
from other students had already put out the fire.
The fire however was successful in razing down the buttery
but only partially affected the cafe although cracks which
were seen on the building's wall will now render the place
unusable at the moment.
Also available at the scene were the UI ambulance and
several members of the university management.
Unconfirmed reports have it that two students who were
running to the scene suffered injuries. One of them who was
running in from the Indy/Zik axis was slightly hit by an
oncoming car! It was said by an eyewitness that he was
quickly transferred to Jaja where it was affirmed that he
suffered no major injuries.
The other person slipped at the scene of the incidence and
broke his teeth. He would be needing some stitches in his
mouth to get better.
THE OTHER SIDE;
For now, Kuti's Major Export, which is the Kuti Burger will
not be available in the foreign exchange market again as the
production factories for now cease to exist! The Tedder Hall
buttery which suffered same earlier this session is yet to be
significantly renovated while gives the prospect of the Kuti
Hall Buttery!
Zik Hall and Independence Hall guys must however be
commended for their timely intervention in aiding the
submersion of the fire outbreak. Some were particularly seen
carrying buckets of water from their hall to help smolder the
fire while others help in lamenting and taking videos and
pictures of the outbreak!

Rapper Vector Career On Hold A Court Stops him From musical Activities

A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an order restraining popular rapper Vector from further breaching his contract with record label YSG Entertainment.
To put it in simple English, V.E.C cannot act in full capacity as an artiste. That means NO recording, releasing or distributing of any song or musical work. He cannot record any music video or perform on any stage. The injunction documented as Suit no FHC/L/CS/1252/13, filed against him at the said court, was granted on Friday, January 31, 2014, by presiding judge J.T Tsoho.
‘Pursuant to persistent breach of contract by rap artiste Olanrewaju ‘Vector’ Ogunmefun, the Record label, YSG Entertainment Ltd, through the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, have obtained an injunction restraining him from further activities constituting a breach of his Record Contract Extension Agreement and Assignment and License Agreement dated 26th October 2011, duly entered into by both parties,’ the injunction reads.

Vector’s contract with YSG expires in 2017. He started having issues with the label in 2012, with sources saying the rapper felt the label was not going in the right direction with his brand and promotion.

But in a twist of things, NET gathered that Vector has also sued the label and is in the process of filing a separate injunction against them.
‘We also took them to court. The case is ongoing as we speak,’ Michael Umoru, Vector’s current manager, says.
Umoru also adds that they have not been served any letter and are not aware of the injunction. ‘Neither Vector nor I or even our lawyers have been served any letter, so this is news to us,’ he told NET.

REVEALED: Why I Was Framed Up Over Bola Ige's Death

Former deputy governor of Osun State and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyiola Omisore, yesterday, explained why he was framed up on the death of the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige.
Chief Ige was on December 23, 2001, murdered in his Bodija residence in Ibadan by a yet to be identified gunmen.
But fielding questions from newsmen in Osogbo, Senator Omisore who was the prime suspect in the murder case along with some of his associates stated that one of the reasons was to cover up the murder of a former House of Assemly member, Hon. Odunayo Olagbaju who was killed few days before Ige.
According to him, another reason was the second term ambition of the then governor of the state, now chairman of All Progressives Congress APC,  Chief Bisi Akande.
Looking back, Senator Omisore who was persuaded in 1999 to step down for Chief Akande by their party then, the Alliance for Democracy, AD, stated that he had no regret for obeying the party’s directive.
Omisore, one of the leading PDP governorship aspirants in August this year’s election in Osun State also noted that there were no progressives again in any of the parties.
He said: “We don’t have progressives again in this country. It is mere deception and propaganda. PDP, APC and any other party are the same thing. It is just a matter of political convenience.”
Omisore called for the immediate redeployment of Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Ambassador Rufus Akeju from the state alleging that he cannot conduct a free and fair election.

Without Me PDP Is Finished In OYO, Alao Akala Brags

Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State is a strong pillar of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State and beyond. Though he lost his re-election quest he was not disgraced as Oyo State became the only state in the Southwest region to return a PDP senator and members of the House of Representatives in 2011.
In this interview in Ibadan, he addresses issues on the PDP structure in Oyo, his political future and his position in Oyo politics. Excerpts:
IT seems as if the PDP is waking up after the crisis instigated by the controversies around Bamanga Tukur.
Yes, the new national chairman of the PDP is an experienced man  who will take the party to the next level. It is just like a footballer who is put on a reserve bench watching others play. When he is eventually brought on to the pitch, he would play like a coach. The man has been brought in to do damage control which I believe he is going to do effectively. He has started. He knows what to do.He knows how to tackle it. PDP will be there. What is happening now is normal especially when elections are drawing near. It is not new to people like us.
Do you have confidence in his ability to bring back those who have left the party?
Oh yes. It may not be all them. He would bring back some of them.
Participatory leadership
Most of those who have defected are not those who can contest election constitutionally with the exception of my brother in Kwara. Those who have defected would come back.
Why were you not at the Oyo PDP stakeholders’ meeting hosted by former Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide(SAN). Did you have any reservation against the meeting?
No, I don’t have anything against the meeting. It is only that I enjoy participatory leadership where everybody would be involved in moving the party forward. So, if you feel some people who were expected to be there were not there, so be it.
Some of your loyalists like Dr. Saka Balogun were there. Did you send him to represent you?
No, I can’t send an adult to that kind of meeting. He is an adult, he knows what to do.
Does that mean you were not represented at the meeting?
I did not need to be represented there. I just said I believe in participatory leadership. everybody is free to do what they like. I am not a dictator.
Another meeting has been fixed for that same venue. Will you be there.
Where?
At Chief Akinjide’s residence.
I don’t know. If I am around, may be.
Do you belong to Chief Bode George’s faction in the party.
I don’t belong to any faction. I don’t encourage factions. I am in PDP and I am not in any faction. What do you mean by a faction? I am a PDP man. Chief Bode George has not got any faction. Chief Bode George is above that kind of thing. Anybody who tells you that is a mischief maker. There is nothing like that. I know Chief Bode George and Chief Akinjide are above that kind of thing.
But there is a group that is loyal to Buruji Kashamu.
(Cuts in….) what do you mean a group is loyal to Kashamu. You can’t be loyal to an individual but should be loyal to your party. I am loyal to PDP and that is all. I can’t be loyal to an individual. I will never be above the PDP. What you should have done is that you should have interviewed some state chairmen and let them say they are loyal to Kashamu. Loyalty should go to PDP. That is what I said. So, what do you mean some people are loyal to Kashamu. What makes somebody a politician? It is just joining a political party. It is how useful you are to that system. Would Kashamu go to Ekiti and vote there or would he come to Oyo and vote here?
Many people assume that the structure of the PDP in this state has been given to Teslim Folarin
You don’t know what you are saying. You are being mischievous. If you are not being mischievous, am I not here in Oyo State? If I leave the PDP today, would anybody remain in the party? Why are you deceiving yourselves? We know who is who in Oyo State. If they asked you to ask that question, it is wrong.
But, it is the reality on ground
(Cuts in…) what is the reality on ground? Am I out of the state? Where did you see everybody that you did not see me.
But, recently, Dr. Saka Balogun said the names of people you sent to Abuja were removed.
I am not complaining. Did you hear me complain? Dr. Balogun is older than I in every respect. So, he knows what he is saying. He was talking in his own capacity like Dr. Saka Balogun which he is entitled to. He is an elder and one of the leaders of this party. You people (media) cause problems when there is no problem. We know ourselves and our limits. If some of us are not talking on pages of newspapers because of our experience, age and position, it is not that we are stupid. But, we don’t just want things to deteriorate. If you give big head to someone who has a small body, you would just make him collapse.
Can you confirm whether you would be contesting the 2015 gubernatorial election as we have seen posters to that effect. If yes, on what platform?
Where do you want me to start from. Posters are beyond me. If you love me, you know what you want me to do. You can as well put posters. It is my admirers who pasted those posters. I have not been in Ibadan for quite sometime. I was in Abuja, so there is no way I could have done it.
But there is one thing about the posters, they are not printed in the same colour. That means they emanated from different groups. When the time comes, we shall sit down and discuss it. We are yet to sit down and agree on it. I want to follow due process. When we get to the bridge, we shall cross it.
Some people are looking at you as the leader of the PDP in this state….
What do you mean by some people? When you came in here, you saw many people here. By the grace of God, I was once a governor of this state. There is no way they would talk about this state without my name being mentioned. You cannot take that from me. Not that some people are saying I am the leader. I am the leader of the party in this state.
But you still romance with Senator Rashidi Ladoja who is the leader of Accord. There was a time that a committee was set up by the two of you?
Do you want to say that because I am a PDP man, I should not relate with my former boss? PDP is how many years old now and since when have I been in good relationship with Senator Ladoja.
Would you support another candidate if PDP presents another gubernatorial candidate?
You heard what the national chairman of the party said that internal democracy would be observed. If you heard that why then are you asking me hypothetical questions?
So, if the primary comes up today, you are sure of securing the ticket of the party.
I am a politician. I don’t have to tell you my tactics. If I tell you, it means I am selling away my joker.
Are you aware of a poster in Ibadan that contains your picture and that of Ladoja with the inscription two wrongs don’t make a right?
That poster is insulting to the two of us. You don’t need to put our pictures. That is very wrong and that is part of what we are trying to correct. Address issues, don’t attack personality. It is only because of my position. I don’t want to be seen as causing the breach of peace in Oyo State. If not, why should somebody put our pictures with such inscription? I didn’t use my posters to abuse anybody.
But, there is counter one that says, two good heads are better than one.
Those people who counter it don’t know how to go about it and I am not ready to incite anyone.  They thought they should respond and that it what they did. I did not send anybody to defend me because that has become personal. They should have allowed us to see what steps we should take. We should play politics without bitterness.
Look at the people that did my poster, they sent the message out. “Ajumobi o kan taanu, eni Olorun ba ran si ni ni s’eni loore” meaning (coming from the same parental background does not qualify one getting favour but help comes from someone who is God sent). Nobody abused anybody. It is food for thought. People have been pondering over it.
But, somebody bears that name
Uuuuhhhn. No. that is not the name o. Those who call him that name do not know what they are saying. Those who printed the posters are speaking to Yoruba for Yoruba people to understand and we have understood.
Towards the end of last year, you went to Oyo town to see the Alaafin of Oyo. Were you able to meet him?
That is a forgone issue. I have over-flogged it. Don’t let us go back to it. Papa belongs to all of us. Nobody can have monopoly of him. He is not papa of Oyo alone, he is our father.
In the spirit of reconciliation, how do you think factions in the PDP can be brought together to make the party more formidable.
When the time comes, we will all come together, we will reconcile those who are reconcilable, and those who feel they are bigger than the PDP would be allowed to go.
You say it with emphasis that PDP will win the governorship election in this state. How do you think this is possible bearing in mind that when you were the governor, it was this same party that defeated you in the 2011 elections?
If it were possible for those who voted me in 2007 to get me there, it is also possible for them to get them out in 2015. Don’t forget the fact that the stronger our democracy, the more educated are the electorate. It is not yet time for campaign.
In the state, APC is ruling..
Cuts in…..People are even confused about the name. How many times they have changed names now.
Peaceful atmosphere
They were AD, AC, ACN and APC. Can you remember? And some people just joined them saying they are ANPP, CPC and so on.
What do you think the ruling party is not doing right now that can be corrected?
You want me to tell them? No, leave them, let them continue to fumble. We don’t want to tell them. We have not started campaigning. Let them blow the whistle.
How do you think violence can be avoided in the 2015 elections?
If you allow violence as a leader, I don’t know who you want to govern. We shall continue to talk to our people to be peaceful. It is in peaceful atmosphere that we can get things which are wrong corrected.
We learnt that a senatorial ticket has been reserved for you in Accord. Is it true?
People say it in Yoruba that, I don’t want is superior to I gave you. If they are not so mischievous, why should they reserve ticket for me? I have said it several times that I don’t belong to Accord and I can never become an Accord member. Can’t people just take simple no?. I can never go to Accord.
What party can you go to?
I will not go to any party. I am a loyal member to PDP. Irrespective of what happens, PDP remains my party. It is the party that made me what I am today. Why then would I abandon it? I can never do that. If PDP made somebody like me, it would not like losing somebody like me.
People say that your aides like Prince Dotun Oyelade have moved over to Accord to prepare the ground for you?
They are not my aides.
You mean now?
Even before. They were not my aides.
Even Prince Oyelade?
Dotun has never been my political associate. He only worked for me as a professional journalist.
Can we refer to those in Accord now as your lost political children?
They were never my political children. They were employed by me and they have gone there for another employment. Don’t you know that in every government, there are those we call technocrats who are always looking for money. They have applied to that place and they have employed them.
Like prodigal son, if they come back for re-employment. Would you consider them?
I would consider their applications based on merit.

Confused Man! Atiku Goes To APC Again, Says PDP Is Beyond Redemption

A former Vice-President, Alhaji  Atiku Abubakar,  on Sunday announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Abubakar  said his resignation letter would be delivered to  the PDP  on Monday (today).

He also said, in a statement he personally signed, that he was joining the opposition political party, the All Progressives Congress.

The statement  came after the nationwide consultation that the former Vice-President embarked on in the last few weeks.

The consultation was as a result of the visit  of the  APC leaders to his Abuja residence  on December 18, 2013. The APC leaders had  asked him  to ditch the ruling party.

In the statement, Abubakar  listed some of the grievances he had against  the PDP to  include  the refusal of the leadership of the party  to listen to his numerous complaints.

For example, he said that in 2006, he and his supporters were pushed out of the PDP, a party   they worked tirelessly with other compatriots to build as a vehicle for  restoring democracy to our country.

But he said they later returned to  the PDP  in 2009 when a new leadership of the party promised a new direction.

Abubakar, however, regretted that this was not done.

Abubakar  said, “Sadly, however, those promises have not been kept.  In addition, the PDP continues to be beset with many crises, mostly leadership-induced crises.

“We have, therefore, concluded that that party (PDP) cannot be redeemed. In short the PDP has abandoned Nigerians, the very people who gave it life and many electoral victories.

“It has since lost touch with Nigerians and efforts made by many well-meaning members and stakeholders to bring it back to the vision of  its  founders have been rebuffed.

“To demonstrate the seriousness of the challenges and bring public attention to it,  I and some other leaders and stakeholders,  staged a walkout during the party’s last convention  on August 30.”

Those, who joined in the walkout included Governors  Aliyu Wamakko(Sokoto); Sule Lamido(Jigawa); Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); Aliyu Babangida(Niger); Abdulfatai Ahmed(Kwara ); Murtala Nyako(Adamawa) and Rabiu Kwakwanso(Kano).

The seven governors, except Aliyu and Lamido, have joined the APC.

In the statement on Sunday,  Abubakar said it  was also worrisome that PDP’s culture of impunity and arbitrariness posed a great challenge to the continued existence of Nigeria.

He said, “We continue to have threats from officially protected political extremists.

“Increasingly, our people are recklessly being divided along the lines of religion, ethnicity and region for political gains.  Our history and that of many other countries in Africa and Eastern Europe ought to teach us that this is very dangerous and must stop.”

Abubakar, who in  2007 dumped  the PDP for the defunct Action Congress, said it was against this background that he decided to join the APC.

He added,  “I have been consulting my supporters and associates, my family and friends for the past few weeks.  My decision may not satisfy some of my friends and associates.

“In the end, however, I have to put the interest of our country first.  This country has done so much for me personally and it deserves all that we can do to help rebuild it and serve our people better.

“Following this extensive consultative process, I have, therefore, decided to cast my lot with the APC, a party of change committed to the improvement of the lives of our people and to the continued existence and development of Nigeria as one indivisible country.  My resignation letter as a member of the PDP will be delivered to the party tomorrow(today).”

Abubakar  defended his decision to join the APC, saying  that the struggle for democracy,  constitutionalism and service to  the country and its people  were paramount in his  mind.

He encouraged his  associates and friends to   join the APC  “so that together, we can change this country for the better.”

He  said he would do all within his God-given powers to help the APC win elections all over Nigeria and bring true change to our country and its long-suffering people.

When contacted, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the party was yet to be informed.

He promised that the PDP would react as soon as it was officially informed.

Expectedly, the APC expressed its happiness within the defection, saying that it was apparent that the PDP would feel the absence of the former vice-president.

The Acting Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, told  our correspondent   that Abubakar would be an asset to the opposition party.

He said, “He is welcome into the progressive fold. It is apparent now that the sinking ship of the PDP is gone. Very soon, those managing the affairs of the party would know that they are alone.

“I want to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to also borrow a leaf from those that have escaped from the sinking ship and move  to the APC.”

Meanwhile,  the  Coalition of Progressive Democrats, has hailed  Abubakar’s decision  to join the APC.

Addressing  journalists  in Abuja on Sunday, the spokesperson  for  the CPD,Chief Oladimeji Fabiy,  said the former vice-president had “nothing doing is such a dead political party like the PDP.”

Fabiyi,  who is also the National Coordinator of Turaki Vanguard, added that  the  PDP   lacked  ideas as a party that was prepared to take the nation to the next level.

He  said that the new  National Chairman of the PDP,Alhaji Adamu Muazu, was not in the position to bring any meaningful change to the troubled party.

Fabiyi said,  “Muazu is not going to be the solution to all the crises in  the PDP. The PDP  is several  miles back.”

WAEC Introduces New Subjects

The West African Examinations Council has announced the introduction of 39 new subjects in its examinations.

The Council’s Acting Head, Test Development Division, Mrs. Olayinka Ajibade, who announced this, said the new subjects would commence in this year’s May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

Ajibade said this while delivering a paper titled “The New Senior Secondary Education Curriculum in Nigeria: Implications for Assessment” at the council’s monthly seminar in Lagos on Friday.

The fresh initiative, she said, was in accordance with the Nigerian Education Research and Development Council’s new secondary school curriculum.

The NERDC is the body responsible for reviewing primary and secondary schools’ curricula in the country.

She said, “The implementation of the new SSCE curricula began in September 2011, meaning that the maiden public examinations based on the new/ revised curricula are expected to be held in May/ June 2014.

“Each WASSCE syllabus is derived from the senior secondary education curriculum. In addition to the 39 new subjects for which NERDC engaged in curriculum development, curriculum review was also carried out for 35 existing subjects.”

In the new curriculum, four new subjects- Computer Studies, Insurance, Store Management and Office Practice- are in the electives category, while the remaining 35 subjects are in the Trades category.

Among subjects in the trade category are Painting and Decorating, Photography, Salesmanship, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, and Upholstery.

Ajibade added that under the fresh directive, students would be required to take four core subjects, comprising English Language, General Mathematics, Civic Education and Trade/ Entrepreneurial Studies.

The candidates, she added, would be required to choose three or four subjects from Humanities, Science, Technology and Business Studies depending on their potential and interest.

Ajibade, while unveiling this, noted however that the new directive would face some challenges.

She identified inadequate teachers, appalling state of facilities in schools and large class size as some of the challenges that would likely beset the initiative.
