Daddy Showkey, Alariwo And Baba Fryo Mourns Fada U Turn

everal musicians, including Daddy Showkey and Alariwo of Afrika, have expressed shock at the death of dancehall musician, Olufemi Mayomi, popularly called Father U-Turn.

Although some reports suggested that the artiste died of kidney-related complications,  a statement by the Publisher of Nigerian Entertainment News Today, Ayeni Adekunle, indicated that Father U-Turn died after a brief illness.

The Kaba-Bunu, Kogi- State-born artiste, who made waves in the 1990s, was 36.

Father U-Turn shot into limelight after releasing a song titled ‘Yetunde,’ in which he featured popular fuji act, Pasuma Wonder.

He was also respected for other hit songs like ‘African Culture’ and ‘Shakara’.

Reacting to news of the death, Showkey said in a telephone interview that he never knew Father U-Turn was ill.

The artiste, who was on his way to a show said, “I did not know that Father U-Turn is dead. I did not even know that he was sick. This is a surprise to me. Oh, my God. I can’t even say anything now. He was a good musician.”

Also, Alariwo described the development as a sad one.

According to him, what makes it shocking and more painful is the fact that many of the colleagues of the deceased were not aware that he was sick.

Alariwo added, “When I heard the sad news, I had to ask if it was really true. They said he had kidney problems. If we were aware, we would have been able to rally round and contributed our own quota to get him back to his feet. May his soul rest in peace.”

He described Father U-Turn as a musician who was unique in his own way.

“He fused raga with highlife and fuji. He was the first dancehall artiste to feature Pasuma Wonder. His music was very commercial.”

Also in a telephone chat with our correspondent, juju act, Dele Taiwo, said the news of Father U Turn’s death was unbelievable.

Saying that he would also be remembered for his exploits in galala dance, Taiwo added, “How could something like that happen to one of us without anyone knowing about it? It is so sad.”

Another contemporary of the deceased, Friday Igwe, otherwise called Baba Fryo, described Father U-Turn as a friendly person.

He said, “I’m so sad because he was my good friend. May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”

Wande Coal's Breakup Won't Affect Our Relationship - D'prince

In a recent interview with TRIBUNE Charles Enebeli AKA D’Prince, disclosed that the break up shocked him.

“This development is a shock to all of us because Wande Coal is like our brother. Basically, we will keep the flag flying. No hard feelings and no bad blood. Like I said, we are all brothers. We will definitely find a way to get things sorted out.” he said

See excerpts below:

You are a member of Mavin group. How do you feel about the goings-on in the group?
Mavin is not just my label, it is my family. It is my home and I am happy with it. I am enjoying my contract because I am working with a great set of people who share the same vision with me about my career. So, everybody is working to take the label to an enviable height and I know God is in control of our affairs. From the boss to the least person on the label, we all work together as one big family. We always make sure we produce good music that people will always say good things about. You must have noticed that we know how to do it, that’s why everybody appreciates anything that comes out of that label. What matters in life is how happy you are with what you are doing and who you are working with. For me, I am very happy and satisfied with what I am doing under Mavin records.

Are you happy with the way things are going, considering the fact it was formed after the break up of Mo’hits?
There is nothing special about it. You heard in the news just like I did. It is one of those things that happen with any successful record label. It is not peculiar to Mavin. Mavin remains stronger than before. Everybody is working and we are moving ahead. That somebody left or that somebody may leave tomorrow, does not mean we should all stand down and look. This is one big happy family; whatever happens, we have to stick together so that we can fashion out the way forward; not to dwell on what happened in the past. That will only take us back.

What does this unfortunate development portend for Mavin as a group?
You know this is like a business and you can’t always foresee what might happen to you or your partner. You won’t even know where your relationship is heading to until it ends one day. But at the end of the day, you just have to give thanks to God for the gift of life because that’s what matters to me. As long as I have my life, I can always find my way through whatever challenge that comes my way. You can’t run away from things like this, but your ability to deal with it is the most important thing. You will agree with me that at the end of the day, you have got only your life to look after. I f you lose it, you are finished. I just thank God for my life, that’s all I can say. T

Will this not affect your relationship with Wande Coal?
I don’t see it that way. Wande is my brother. We see each other at least every other day. I have no problem with Wande. The relationship remains as cordial as before. If you know the kind of relationship that exists between us, I am sure you won’t be saying this. That he decided to leave does not mean it will affect our relationship; it won’t. Break-up or no break-up, you have to be thankful to God for the good life He has blessed you with. Whether we like it or not, we remain one big family. From D’Banj to Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, me, Dr Sid and Tiwa Savage, I want our fans to continue to pray for us. It will mean a lot to the group right now.

Is there any difference between the defunct Mo’hits and the current Mavin group?
When you hear Mavin, you hear Mo’hits because this is something that has been on for a long time. We didn’t just start yesterday. People love us because they know we will give them positive music as we have been churning it out since day one. My last album is barely a year old and you can see how far it has gone.

Paul And Jude Okoye Shuns Peter's Wedding For Mavin Studio Recording

Little did I know when I shared  a photo of Jude engees at the Marvin studio with won jazzy and wizkid today , now read this awful report below

A special person went missing today at the wedding ceremony of Peter Okoye and the person is Paul Okoye, the twin brother of the bridegroom. Apparently, Paul and their elder brother, Jude Okoye couldn’t make it to the wedding today due to a recording schedule.

Sources claim, the duo were with Wizkid at Mavin Studio throughout today recording a new music. Fans have not stopped blasting the two on social network today for displaying affection for money more than blood brother.

Before we start blaming them, we must keep in mind that Peter Okoye himself was out of town yesterday. He missed his Bachelor party due to a commitment in Ghana. Peter Okoye arrived Lagos Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday for his wedding. Can you imagine the kind of stress he must have put his wife, Lola Omotayo through.

Seriously, these boys needs some serious scolding… like who does that? If Wizkid or business cant wait then you dont do it, what reason do you have for missing your twin brother’s wedding? I guess now we know part of reasons why Lola was looking not too happy today. Awful it is

Singer Beautiful Nubia Takes A Japp At HipHop Artistes On Good Lyrics

A folklore musician, Segun Akinlolu, popularly known as Beautiful Nubia, on Sunday urged young musicians to use good lyrics to communicate meaningfully to the society.
Akinlolu  in Lagos said that there was nothing wrong in youths playing the Hip Hop, but they should use good lyrics to send their messages.
“We should not lay blames on youths, but the media that are pushing out the music to the people. So if what the media is pushing out is bad, it takes hold of the public mind.

Beautiful Nubia
“If we want honest music, we play one, not pretend to be owanbe or American if we want to be truthful to our selves.
“When we were growing up we listened to Cool and the Gang musical group, but we grew out of it.
“There is a natural process of maturity where people think deep and listen to more reflective music.
“There should always be good message in songs we do for positive changes. I am very particular about that.
“If the Hip Hop is not addressing that, then there is a problem about the songs,” he said.
Akinlolu, however, said that there would be problem when youths grew older and were still doing the Hip Hop.
He said that Nigerian would grow out of the Hip Hop and prefer Nigerian music.
“They are trying already to do some collaboration or sing some of the 90s music.
“In the 90s it was reggae, in the70s it was pop. There is no need to push it; we should let them to bring it down to the Nigerian level,” he said.
Akinlolu said that he was playing the traditional music which reflected what we were.
“It is a traditional music brought in different contemporary ways.
“I use Nigeria setting to sing the music and tell what is wrong in the society.
“It reflects the problems, the challenges we face every day; it reflects how we grew up, what we face every day in our society.
“We try to teach through the music the need for the people to be honest, hard working, good neighbourliness, sincerity consciousness, love and protecting one another.
“That is what we are telling the society, we are singing it for the society to change.
“It is the ancient wisdom and philosophy of our people and how they live a clean life.
“It is about the wisdom of all Africans that I put into poetry and prose, put it into songs and let people hear what we have to preach. I try reflecting on life experiences,” he said.
Akinlolu has recorded eight albums including, “Seven lives”, “Voice from heaven” and “Fire on the Roof”. (NAN)

OPEN LETTER: Fan Dissapointed Tiwa savage Is Getting Married To A Married Man

Welcome to Nigeria, we attack celebs whenever we feel like, now Tiwa is the one being attacked. ENJOY

So I heard one of the most successful Nigerian female Singer and my favourite Tiwa Savage is getting married to her fiancé/manager Tee Billz this month and I was extremely happy for her.
So I read in some interviews that her fiancé said that they have a limited invitation cards for their wedding which means he doesn’t want crowd, fans or party crashers at his wedding, and I was like “whatever” that he has pride and what was he feeling like with the believe that Tiwa doesn’t know anything about this and she wouldn’t say such to her fans.

But to my own surprise, few days later I read in another interview where Tiwa also said the same thing “If you’re not invited don’t come to our wedding”, I was really disappointed that she could say such despite the fact that we are the ones buying her records and also it is our money they want to use for this their wedding ooo. These artistes don’t know that without with us (fans) they can’t succeed in this business.

I made up my mind never to buy her records again, for her and her fiancé to say such to their fans who buy their records. So I began to wonder why would they say such, is it that they don’t want to spend, they are being stingy or maybe they want a low key wedding which I don’t think so.

So today I was going through some blogs and I saw a gist that the controversial Kemi Omololu Ololoyun said Tiwa Savage is getting married to a married man with a kid, huh! I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it I had go straight to google and search if the story is true, trust google, google showed me everything patapata and it was confirmed that this her fiancé Tee billz is indeed married with a kid but separated and not yet divorced.

What da f**k! So I realise this is the reason she doesn’t want crowd at her wedding because she’s scared. But seriously Why would she do such? I’m highly disappointed in her, it shows she is very desperate to get married with the fact that it is illegal to get married to a married man who isn’t divorced.

Shame on you Tiwa Savage, is it someone like you that is suppose to say you don’t want crowd and uninvited guests at your wedding? You want to marry somebody else’s husband yet you flew abroad to buy wedding gown and you con dey flaunt am to the world, shame no catch you.

Anyways, I am happy for you but please be wise, let the divorce come first before you enter his house biko, we all know you are not getting any younger but please little patience would do. Getting married to a legally married man is totally wrong, it only shows how desperate you are.

And once again, is it true you caused the rift between Don Jazzy and Wande Coal? Xoxo

Arrested 65yrs Old Pipeline Vandal Calls Fuel Holly Water

Six suspected pipeline vandals were apprehended in Sagamu area of Ogun state. Salami Amodu, 65, Bruce Ekonen, Joseph Ofoeyeno, Francis Ode, Bruce Ekonen and Kola Ifatoye were arrested with about 100 gallons of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). They allegedly vandalized Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline at Idimagboro.

Salami Amodu, 65, who was, along with others arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline Vandalism Unit, had this to say:

“I was on my way home when a man, popularly known as Alfa, stopped me. He promised to pay me N5000 per trip if I can help him to carry 10 gallons of liquid. I thought it was water, so I did not bother to ask, since it’s a good business. It is possible that the water could be anointed since he was ready to pay as much as N5000.

“It was while we were on our way that I started to perceive the odour of fuel. I asked him and he told me that it was fuel. I was so annoyed and I shouted at him for not telling me in the first place what was in the gallons. Initially, I wanted to stop the car and ask him to off load the vehicle, but when I realized that we were almost close to his destination, I decided to continue. I am aware that vandals normally pass through that route that was why I was very angry with him.

“In that area, people go for prayers. Clerics come to that area to buy holy water to perform miracle. Most of the times when I am done with the day’s job, especially if I did not make much money, I will go down to the bush area to see if there is anyone who needs lift. I also ensure that I do not carry vandals because those days when I used to help them, it landed me into trouble with security men. Although, there is money to make in that business but the risk is much. This was why I stopped a long time ago till Alfa deceived me into carrying fuel for him.

“I am very sorry. It is of no use denying that I was not involved because I was caught with the product. Life has been unfair to me if not, at this age, why should I be hustling for money to feed and take care of my family. I am very sorry.”

Another suspect, Joseph Ofoeyeno, claimed that his duty was just to transport the stolen products from the bush to the buyers:

“Initially I was buying directly from NNPC staff close to the depot. Normally, NNPC staff will overload their trucks and sell the excess to us before preceding to off- load the rest for the buyer. The place was however shot down when there was a fire outbreak. I had no choice than to patronize these vandals. I am sorry and I wish NNPC will be allowing those their truck drivers to carry excess.”

Bruce Ekonen stated he actually went to the bush to see a cleric for the gift of the fruit of the womb: “I have been married for the past 8 years and my wife has not been able to conceive. I have tried my hands on different women outside but none has ever returned with the good news that she is pregnant.

“I was actually on my way when I saw Francis and asked him for a lift. We were on our way to town when the police arrested us. I was looking for the fruit of the womb not stolen fuel. I was even advising Francis to stay away from illegal business of selling stolen product when the police arrested us.”

Confirming the arrest, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Friday Ibadin, who is in charge of the Task Force, said, “Detectives led by Sector Commander, Lagos, DSP Onaghise Osayande, laid ambush and nabbed these suspected vandals. It is worthy to remind Nigerians that ignorance is not an excuse. Both the seller and buyer of stolen products are liable. Meanwhile, the suspects would soon be arraigned in court at the end of investigation.”

Justin Bieber Set To Release Another Movie

Justin Bieber has released the trailer for his second documentary simply titled: "Believe" which will be released on Christmas Day.

Bieber has had his string of bad press lately, but he's looking to turn that around with this new documentary revealing what it's like growing up in the spotlight as one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.

Bieber was the subject of a previous documentary, "Never Say Never," in 2011, which grossed $73 million (the third highest grossing documentary of all time). "Believe" looks like it picks up Bieber's story from the last doc and will probably be high on any Belieber's Christmas list.
