The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man for being in possession of N48m in cash, PUNCH News.
The suspect, John Okafor, was apprehended on the Abaji-Abuja Expressway on Monday during routine patrol by NDLEA officials.
He was alleged to have been on a commercial bus travelling from Onitsha at the time of his arrest.
Okafor has since told police that the money belonged to an unknown bureau de change firm in Onitsha, of which he was an employee, and that he was on his way to convert the funds to dollars.
Chinyere Obijuru, FCT NDLEA commander, has confirmed the arrest in a statement and said that Okafor would be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further investigation.
