Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are expecting a baby girl.
Zuckerberg announced the pregnancy on – where else – his Facebook wall on Friday afternoon.
“We've already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people's lives around the world -- Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy,” Zuckerberg wrote in a lengthy post that included a photo of the couple with their dog.

“Now we'll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.”

Zuckerberg also shared the news that he and his wife have been trying for a couple years to get pregnant, and suffered three miscarriages along the way.
He called it a “lonely struggle,” but said sharing their story might encourage people to talk more about miscarriages.
“You feel so hopeful when you learn you're going to have a child. You start imagining who they'll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they're gone. It's a lonely experience,” Zuckerberg wrote.
“We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well,” he added.
Zuckerberg said this pregnancy is far enough along that the “risk of loss is very low.”
The Facebook CEO said he’s “extremely excited” to meet his daughter.
“In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up "like" with her hand, so I'm already convinced she takes after me.”
In less than an hour after sharing the news, more than 217,000 had already given Zuckerberg’s post the virtually thumbs up by clicking the “like” button on their Facebook walls.
Zuckerberg married Chan on May 19, 2012.
