APC Governors, Oyegun in crucial meeting over senate presidency and speaker position s

A crucial meeting involving all the governors and governors-elect on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC was underway last night at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting, Vanguard gathered held ahead of another crucial meeting between the Governors and the President-Elect, General Mohammadu Buhari today in Abuja.
As early as 8:30 pm, the meeting had already gathered momentum with many personalities in attendance.
National chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun was in attendance so also the Speaker, House of Representatives and Sokoto State governor-elect, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and his Kano State counter-part, Umar Ganduje.
Other governors who also made it to the meeting included Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Chibuike Ameachi (Rivers) Tanko Almakura (Nassarawa), Kassim Shetima (Borno), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Nasir El-Rufia (Kaduna State governor-elect), Atiku Gbagudu ( Kebbi State Governor-elect) just as more were being expected.
Former governors of Kwara and Ekiti States, Senator Bukola Saraki and Kayode Fayemi were also in attendance.
Also sighted at the venue was a former member of the House of Representatives and now senator-elect from Adamawa State, Mrs Binta Garba.
Vanguard gathered that the meeting which held behind closed doors was basically not unconnected to the yet-to-be harmonized positions of various geopolitical zones jostling for senate presidency and the Speakership of the House of Representatives.
Another possible reason for the meeting, it was learnt, was the ministerial slots for which the governors had started submitting names from their respective states.
As at 9:50 when this report was filed, the governors were still meeting inside.
There were expectations that a communique would be issued at the end of the meeting
